Middle School Choral/General Music Teacher
Woodrow Wilson Middle School in Glendale, California will have a Choral/General Music position opening for the Fall 2008 school year. Currently there are three choirs 6/7th grade treble (girls), 8th grade treble (girls) and a boys choir that consists of treble, cambiata, and new baritone voices. The general music classes are currently 8-9 weeks long with new students rotating in each term. In addition to Kodaly training candidates for this job should have an in depth knowledge of choral techniques, vocal pedagogy and a broad range of choral repertoire for young and developing treble voices as well as flexibility in working with the boy's changing voice. We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about working with middle school aged children and will do what it takes to continue to build and maintain a strong standards based vocal music program here at Wilson. Wilson Middle School has approximately 1200 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. It operates under a traditional schedule, each class meeting daily for about 55 minutes.
