Sanna will share
useful and enjoyable ethnic movement activities and folk dances from
a variety of the world’s cultures. Her focus is community and
character building, as well as curriculum connections (holidays,
social sciences, geography, languages, math, and science and, of
course, music) and classroom management.
Sanna Longden
is a well-known
clinician at Kodály, AOSA, MENC, and other education conferences
throughout North America and beyond. She presents at universities,
in-services, and folklore festivals, and serves as
artist-in-residence in U.S. schools. Sanna’s series of useful and
amusing DVD/videos and CDs are sold worldwide through distributors
and on her website (www.FolkStyle.com). Co-author with Phyllis S.
Weikart of
Cultures and Styling in Folk Dance
(High/Scope
Press, 1998), and Wendy Taucher of
Making Music with Movement and Dance
(Pearson
Education, 2006), she is also clinician and contributing author to
the Silver Burdett/Pearson Scott Foresman Making Music textbooks.
