Fort Bend ISD is located in Sugar Land, approximately 30 miles southwest of Houston. Houston offers world-class arts organizations including the Houston Symphony Orchestra, Houston Grand Opera, Houston Ballet, Alley Theatre, and the Museum of Fine Arts Houston. Teachers may pursue graduate degrees in Music or Education at Houston-area colleges and universities. Fort Bend ISD offers a rigorous, daily Fine Arts curriculum with incredible administrative, parent, and community support for arts education. Over 60,000 students are enrolled in District Fine Arts courses. Elementary Music programs are well equipped with budget money for sheet music, musical supplies, and clinicians/masterclass teachers. FBISD also provides a strong mentoring program for teachers new to the District. Fort Bend ISD Kodaly Institute is open to all FBISD Elementary Music Teachers where they earn their Level I, II & III Kodaly Certifications at no cost.
